Authors Equity
Deron is currently collaborating with Authors Equity (AE), a new publishing company reimagining the industry with an author-first approach. AE offers a profit-share model—where authors receive the majority of the proceeds instead of traditional advances—and flexible copyright terms to better align with authors’ interests.
On behalf of AE, Deron works closely with authors to develop derivative media, learning, and entertainment products based on their books, launching these at the time of the book's release to maximize public attention. These projects are brought to market through partnerships with world-class collaborators who provide investment, expertise, and distribution.
Tactogen, Inc.
Having had the life-changing opportunity to undergo MDMA-assisted therapy and explore advanced therapeutic approaches to PTSD (such as IFS and EMDR), I was able to heal from the profound effects of extreme early childhood trauma. This transformative experience ignited my deep fascination with the evolving field of psychedelic science, particularly a groundbreaking class of compounds known as "entactogens" (or "empathogens"). These compounds modulate activity in the amygdala, diminishing fear responses, cultivating a sense of safety and trust, and creating profound emotional openness that allows individuals to rediscover their true selves—liberated from the false narrative shaped by trauma. The state induced by entactogens also promotes neuroplasticity—the brain’s remarkable ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural pathways, creating a foundation for lasting emotional resilience and well-being.
Building on my investments in psychedelic startups, and my passion for advancing these compounds, I am now applying my expertise as a storyteller and content strategist to collaborate with renowned neuroscientist and data scientist Dr. Matt Baggott and his partner, Luke Pustejovsky, through their innovative pharma-tech startup, Tactogen. Tactogen is pioneering a new generation of entactogens from a distinct chemical class known as benzofurans. These compounds are engineered to surpass MDMA in safety and efficacy while addressing systemic barriers to equitable access. We believe they have the potential to treat a broad range of mental health conditions beyond PTSD, all of which are linked to the dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system often rooted in trauma.
As Tactogen progresses through its Series A funding round and prepares for clinical trials in 2025, I am building the strategy behind the development and dissemination of narratives that highlight the transformative potential of next-generation entactogens. Rather than merely advancing Tactogen’s mission, these narratives are designed to foster a broader cultural conversation about the role of psychedelic science in improving human flourishing. This approach emphasizes listening to and collaborating with diverse stakeholders—including patients, clinicians, and communities—to build trust and shared understanding. By participating in this ongoing dialogue, we aim to contribute to a deeper societal awareness of the opportunity these compounds represent for mental health and well-being.
Ember Labs
Through Ember Labs, Deron is creating a novel live-event format designed to guide participants from states of fear, anxiety, and stress to feelings of safety, agency, and hope. This initiative coincides with a felt sense of rising existential threats in America, and a deeper understanding of trauma’s pervasive impacts on individuals and communities.
Central to the event’s format is a technically innovative adaptation of beloved popular music, using principles from Polyvagal Theory to stimulate the vagus nerve and support nervous system. This is paired with replacing song lyrics with guided meditations and spoken-word elements, further enriching the emotional journey.
Participants will also consume legal empathogens—substances known to enhance emotional openness and interpersonal connection. These act as powerful catalysts, guiding participants toward elevated and enduring states of awareness, self-discovery, truth and potential.
To measure the impact of the experience, data will be collected, potentially using tools such as the Oura Ring or vagus-nerve monitors to track physiological and emotional changes, offering critical insights into the experience’s effectiveness.
The pilot event is planned for Summer 2025 in Venice, California, with 30-50 hand-selected participants chosen by Deron and June for their expertise, influence, and ability to amplify the project’s broader impact.
Ultimately, Deron believes these tools could offer individuals, communities, and even nations a chance to break free from cycles of misunderstanding and hate. While such outcomes may not be achieved in this lifetime, now is the time to lay the groundwork.
Wisdom Genome Project
Deron is collaborating with June in support of her Wisdom Genome Project. The mission of the Wisdom Genome Project is to re-discover ancient wisdom systems with the greatest potential to solve our greatest challenges today — validate them with science, map their holistic principles that support human flourishing, and help them take hold in new ways in the modern world.
The validation of ancient wisdom systems with science is critical . On a practical level, science drives government funding, corporate backing and system-level change. Science is how the modern western world separates ancient wisdom from ancient superstition. Fortunately, this partnership between ancient wisdom and modern science is neither new nor unusual; it’s a trend that’s all around us, hiding in plain sight.
